MICHAEL SHERIDAN BILLINGS is a self taught musician who has fronted several bands since he started to play music in his early teens. At a young age he gravitated toward the creative brilliance of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.  Soon after that the floodgates opened and he discovered a vast diversity of music that he could connect with. Jazz, delta blues, progressive rock, and funk soon became an open world to the possibilities of creating his own music.  The power and soul of this music kept him grounded and became the axis of his life.  He led his band Billings Brew to win The Maine Blues Society “Road to Memphis” Competition and performed at Hard Rock Cafe on Beale St. in Memphis Tennessee.  Soon after gained an opening slot for the Burlington Music Conference at Club Metronome in Burlington Vt.  From there, he and his band decided to move to Burlington, a place rich in musical culture and the perfect canvas to absorb musical ideas and grow as a musician.  During this time he realized that you can connect any style of music with what you are doing and as long as you are being yourself, you will be influenced in such a way that these styles will always sound like you as long as you fully understand and connect with what “you” have going on inside you.  In his later years, Mike gravitated to amazing songwriters/vocalists such as Stevie Wonder, Jeff Buckley, Ian Moore, and many others…. This influence broadened his horizons on how to take all this musical prowess he developed in his early years and bring it back home and tame it into song form. Because of this development, he landed himself a gig in London, England, performing at a Jeff Buckley tribute show at Cafe 1001 with some amazing up and coming british bands… “That experience of going to London was amazing.. Over there, people are so accepting to original music and their collective vibe seems to pull the best right out of you…. Its an amazing experience that justifies my existence as a musician and places importance on how important it is to follow your soul and listen to your dreams….”

These realizations became the building blocks for where Mike is today. He continues to front several bands including his funk/rock band BIG TIME, his jazz quartet NOIR, and heads up his production company MYX PRODUCTIONS.  He runs an open mic night in Orono (Woodmans in Orono every Wednesday 10pm).  Along with this, he calls  Main Street Music Studios in downtown Bangor his home.

“Main Street Music Studios is an amazing musical sanctuary and a brilliant creation by Andrew Clifford. Here I feel that I can grow as a musician without interruption.  With the amazing teachers and vibe we have going on here, everyone is growing, learning, and producing faster than they ever have.  The “Coop” vibe we have here is amazing and a true testament to people working together for a greater cause”–Mike Billings

There he has a full recording studio featuring two drum sets with a drum room, rhodes keyboard, guitar/bass amps, rack gear, etc..  His forte at the studio is his CD/DVD duplication and on disc printing. Specializing in short run duplication, Billings can handle everything from short run cd/dvd duplication, on disc printing, graphic design, cd/dvd insert printing, and producing posters/postcards for bands.

All in All, Mike Billings is a well rounded, self-taught DIY musician/producer.  He is currently recording/producing his own album as well as duplication/production of cds for several local bands.
