Anna Mae Mitchell has become a force to be reckoned with in th the Americana and bluegrass music industry. From the Midwest, to New England, and down the East Coast, Anna Mae has charmed audiences with her strong, polished voice and driving guitar work. “Those vocals knocked me out!” says Steve Mogen of the Sam Bush Band. A classically trained singer with roots in acoustic music, she produces a refreshing sound that is focused and clean, yet filled with the power and soul of bluegrass music.
In 2009, Anna Mae Mitchell released her debut album entitled Driving Through a Ghost Town with New England based band Rising Tide. The first featured single, Lichen Covered Stone was released on Prime Cuts of Bluegrass Volume 99, in May 2009. Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine called the project, “a first class collection of traditional bluegrass with a robust measure of creativity. Hopefully this is the first of many recordings for Anna Mae Mitchell.”
Hitting the road as a solo act in 2010, Anna Mae Mitchell is wowing audiences from Boston to Austin and collaborating with many different musicians along the way. Whether commanding the stage as a seasoned performer, or teaching the fundamentals of vocal technique, Anna Mae Mitchell will make any bluegrass even memorable!
“To look at the wide eyed brunette with the innocent face, you could never imagine the commanding voice and guitar work this woman offers… This young woman is in control… You can only marvel at the intensity she has created!” Bangor Daily News
