Main Street Music Studios is a full-service music instruction and recording facility located in the heart of downtown Bangor, Maine.

Our music lessons are available for ages 5-105 in 10+ instruments. All of our instructors are experienced, working musicians with their own private instruction rooms.

Our recording studios are round-the-clock, state-of-the-art and provide complete engineering, production, and creative services to artists in every genre from hip-hop to bluegrass. Clients regularly travel from Boston and New York City to work with producer Andrew Clifford.

Our music classes and events serve students and the public all across Maine and are designed to help you realize your creative ideas and vision.

Bill Thibodeau

Banjo, Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar

Bill “B.T.” Thibodeau teaches guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and banjo – for starters! Born to professional musicians (father Sam was a founding member of Maine’s Kennebec Valley Boys), B.T. cut his teeth on bluegrass, and has been a valued member of the state’s bluegrass “family” for over 30 years, playing with Bluegrass Supply Company, Union River Band, The Adrians, Anna Mae Mitchell & Rising Tide and as a guest artist with countless others. Bill is co-creator & promoter of monthly Orono “Bluegrass Special” events and Maine’s annual Paul Bunyan Bluegrass Festival. Renowned for his zestful mandolin and guitar-playing styles, and his adaptability to playing fiddle and banjo, Bill shares caseloads of wisdom and skill — teaching anything with strings to help bands in the area develop their sound and start playing shows. He also produces recordings for Bluegrass artists and works as a studio player when acoustic instruments are needed. Many of Bill’s students are now in bands performing regularly in this area.
